West Moorabool Fencing Day

This is a one day event assisting two West Moorabool Landcare members and landowners to install riparian fencing along a creek line.

The posts and strainers have been installed. Our support is to assist run and strain the wires for the fence run of around 300 metres. Not a big job.

The project details are as follows:

  • Date is Sunday October 20.
  • Location will be the at 2 Marchants Road, Meredith. Out past Bacchus Marsh.
  • Trip Logistics
    • Travel up to the BP Service station at Ballan West, to arrive at 0900 on the Sunday. We will all meet at the Macca's car park.
    • Head out to the site en masse and meet the owners and get stuck in.
    • Finish up hopefully by 1600 and then disperse.
  • Equipment required will be:
    • Hat, sunscreen, protective glovers, stout boots and anything else of a PPE nature you think necessary for fencing.
    • If you have fencing pliers, fence strainer - bring them. Also a crow bar is useful.
    • Basic vehicle recovery gear - strap, shovel, tyre pump, repair kit, shackles and hand winch if you have it. We are in paddocks and it is still Spring!
    • Handheld UHF radio and/or vehicle mounted UHF.
